What We Know About Season 3
When: The third season of “The Witcher” is set to premiere on Netflix on June 29, 2023, and it brings a significant change to the series’ format. For the first time, the season will be split into two parts, with the first five episodes (Volume 1) releasing in June and the remaining episodes (Volume 2) releasing on July 27th.
Henry Cavill: This season will mark the end of Henry Cavill’s tenure as Geralt, the White Wolf. He will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the fourth season. The teasers suggest that Cavill’s final season will be quite eventful.
Story: The plot of the third season revolves around Geralt taking Ciri into hiding as various forces on The Continent vie to capture her. Yennefer is entrusted with Ciri’s magical training and leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza. However, instead of finding answers about Ciri’s untapped powers, they find themselves in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.
Characters: The cast of characters for the third season includes the return of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and Jaskier, among others. Four new actors are also joining the line-up, including Meng’er Zhang as Milva, Robbie Amell as Gallatin, Hugh Skinner as Radovid, and Christelle Elwin as Mistle.
From the Books: The third season will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s ‘Time of Contempt.’ The season will pick up where the second season left off, with Nilfgaard, Redania, and the Northern kings all wanting to capture or kill Ciri. The Wild Hunt, which was introduced in the second season finale, will also play a significant role in the upcoming season.
