WSJ’s Joanna Stern replaced herself with her AI twin for the day and put “her” through a series of challenges, including creating a TikTok, making video calls and testing her bank’s voice biometric system.
Undoubtedly, the results are impressive. We are witnessing the dawn of a new era in technology, one where advancements are made on a daily basis, and infancy swiftly transitions into maturity. It’s not hard to envision a future where the distinction between the virtual and the real becomes increasingly blurred.
For many of us, myself included, this epoch of artificial intelligence is akin to a ‘Renaissance’ in the realm of contemporary technology, a period of unprecedented innovation and potential benefits. However, the advent of AI is not without its shadows. We’re beginning to observe instances of AI being weaponized for nefarious purposes.
Regardless, one fact remains unchallenged – for better or worse, the era of AI is here, and it’s here to stay.
