Few Details About Assassin’s Creeds Mirage have be released since its reveal during Ubisoft Forward 2022
What We Know So Far
Mirage was originally announced at Ubisoft Forward 2022 along with a couple other Assassin’s Creed titles. What we do know is, the game will take place entirely in 9th century Bagdad. The city will be broken up into 4 separate quadrants. We know that game will be roughly 20 years before the events of Valhalla. In Mirage, you will play as Basim Ibn Ishaq (from AC Valhalla), who is introduced as a street thief with nightmarish visions. Basim is taken in by the Hidden Order who introduce him to their tenants and mysterious rites.
What Else We Know About Mirage
The story follows one of Basim’s earlier adventures as part of the first Assassin Brotherhood. Rather than the open-world RPG gameplay of more recent Assassin’s Creed games, Mirage focuses on stealth and parkour, and is expected to offer a smaller experience overall of around 15 to 20 hours. The game is being built on the modern Valhalla engine and pays tribute to the original game by going back to the series’ roots in the Middle East with a denser city as the centerpiece.
It should also be noted that, unlike Valhalla, Mirage will not have gender options nor relationship possibilities. The writers probably did this to maintain story continuity since Basim’s character has already been established in the future storyline introduced in Valhalla.
What’s next for Assassin’s Creed Mirage?
Rather than the open-world RPG gameplay of more recent years, Assassin’s Creed Mirage focuses on stealth and parkour once again. The mention of the game’s length and use of the Valhalla engine helps set expectations for players, and the nod to the original Assassin’s Creed game adds a sense of nostalgia for longtime fans of the series.
As of right now, best forecasts are on an August 2023 release. My guess is we will get more details during E3 that takes place in the middle of June this year. Even with many companies like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo stating that they will not be attending the event this year, Ubisoft has said they definitely will be attending. Throughout the past 17 years Ubisoft has had a big Assassin’s Creed presence during the show.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC, and Amazon Luna. Additionally, Mirage will be part of the Ubisoft+ Subscription.
